Teaching Studio

Students who enroll in my studio can expect to cover flute basics, fingerings, rhythm, theory, and sight reading at every lesson.  I follow the guidelines of the Certificate of Merit program through the Music Teachers’ Association of California to ensure that every student can progress at any level, while covering all aspects of a classical music education.  I then supplement with materials to fit each student’s individual needs. I welcome all ages and levels in a fun and comfortable atmosphere that fosters creativity and a love for the flute!

Lessons are taught at my home studio in Murrieta.

Student Agreement

Payment

You will receive an invoice at the first lesson of each month (invoices can be emailed, upon request). Payment must be made by the last lesson of the month. Payments not made by the last lesson of the month will incur a $10 late fee.

Attendance

When cancelling or requesting to reschedule a lesson, 24 hours must be given. I will do my best to accommodate your needs, but make-up lessons are dependent upon my schedule and are not guaranteed.

If less than 24 hours notice of an absence is given, you will be charged the full lesson rate and no make-up will be available.

If you are going to be out of town, or need to take time off for an extended period, you may schedule the appropriate number of make-up lessons to hold your time slot. Otherwise, you may lose your spot or have to assume a new day/time upon return.

I will offer make-up lessons on one Saturday each month. You will be notified at the beginning of the month via email as to the specific Saturday and location for that month.

But, because some absences are unavoidable, all students will receive two “freebie” absences per year. You may take these absences at any time during the 12-month period without being charged for the missed lesson.

If I need to cancel a lesson, a make-up will be arranged or a credit will be given. There are no refunds.

Should you decide to discontinue lessons, advance notice is required. Two weeks prior to the last lesson is preferable.

Lesson Procedure

Students must be on time for each lesson. Lost time cannot be made up.

All students must have all required music, their theory workbook, and a notebook and pencil at every lesson. Tuners and metronomes are strongly recommended for home practice.

The purchase of new music or materials may be required of the student from time to time.

Recital/Performance

Participation in at least one studio recital per year is required.

Participation in Certificate of Merit or any other performance or competition is optional at my recommendation. In most cases, entry and accompaniment fees are required in order for students to participate in such events.
